I am continually pondering a sentence by Oscar Wilde, ‘We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.’

This collection is about fairytales sort of dreamer’s aesthetic, and eventually called “inter-dreams”. It is a contemporary design, with an element of doomed romantic from the 19th century. It is about a girl who lives with the dreams.

I had been inspired by many elements, such as the characters in fairytales by Brothers Grimm, illustrations by Arthur Rackham, and also the historical garments from 19th century. Besides, the proportion, structure and silhouette are literal references to Michaël Borremans’s paintings, the concept of ‘wearing back to the front, and front to the back’.

“Romantic” was the name of the game, and I want to dissolve the boundaries between past and present, reality and delusion. All concepts are interpreted through pattern cutting methodology and fabrication respectively. These designs are mostly in slightly dark/muted colours, a sort of dreamy colour. “Weird-dreamy romantic” is the main mood I wanted to portray with the collection, it builds on the styles of the past in order to move forward.

Massive thanks to my beloved mum and dad, for the endless support and always letting me be who I am. Thanks to my sisters, friends, and tutors who have supported me throughout this fabulous journey.
